I have two extension mics, (2200-15855-0010) that I inerited from a previous IT manager.  I just purchased a Soundstation 2 (2201-16200-601) on ebay (analog) that has the ability to use the extension mics. But when I plug in the mics, the Soundstation gets weird.  The dialer holds the tones as you're dialing and the "0" key doesn't work at all.  As soon as you unplug the mic, the phone works perfectly.  I read one thread that said that there was a white tape on one end of the rj45 phone cables and that it had to have that end plugged into the main unit.  I checked that and made sure that was the case; no difference.  Also the tape on my cables was blue, not white.

Is the unit bad?  Are the mics bad?  Is there more than one kind of extender microphone?

Hello @Greyston,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's PSTN FAQ contains this post here:

Jun 23, 2012 Question: What expansion Microphones can I use?
Resolution: Please check => here <=

You cannot use the Microphone with the SoundStation 2 as this is for a SoundStation Duo or CX3000
