We hooked up a SoundStation2 to our NEC phone system and all we get is a tapping/buzzing noise from the phone. Is it compatable with NEC phone systems? I'm wondering if it's a faulty phone or if it's just not compatable.

Thanks

Hello bsedberry,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

Its always useful to provide some history on the device you are trying to use.

  • Is this a brand new SoundStation 2 or a used one ?
  • Has it ever worked before if used ?

Most likely the NEC system you are using is providing digital ports and the SoundStation is an analog phone. Try it at home on your normal phone line to see if it works there.

Thanks, I found someone with a land line phone at their house and it worked just fine. Since it doesent work with our NEC Electra Elite IPK phone system I'm going to return it for a refund and try a different brand.

Thanks

We just received a brand new SoundStation2 and are experiencing the same issue (buzzing, no dialtone, no calls in or out) but we have an analog PBX. Any thoughts on why the phone is not able to make or receive calls?
