Hello,

Placing this here because we are running our VVXs in Skype Profile mode. They are currently running 5.8.0.12848. For sake of this example, the device is a 601. The issue we are having is that we have the device configured to send syslog over TCP. Polycom doesn't allow changing the port, just the protocol. The phone appears to be configured properly. However, we're seeing this in the logs:

syslog tcp connect FAILED to (IP.AD.DR.HERE) port 1468 for transport tcp. Why would it use 1468 instead of the default of 514? Is 514 only for UDP, but these devices use 1468 when you switch the transport to TCP? We are not using SSL. The admin guide says it's using 514: https://documents.polycom.com/bundle/ucs-ag-5-8/page/r_ucs_ag_ports_used_on_polycom_phones.html. If I change our syslog listener to listen on 1468, it works. I'm just puzzled as to where that is configured, or otherwise documented.

Hello @AcousTech,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

I had a few spare minutes and replicated this.

I raised 1-9903786752 / EN-102528 for this but is has not got a high priority or severity this way.

If you can escalate this into Polycom please quote above case numbers as a Customer escalation has a higher priority.

Hello @AcousTech,

this is a hardcoded value and we will add the port to the Admin Guide in a next release.

Does hardcoded mean that it is going to stay this way, and adding it to the admin guide just means it will be documented? Or will it also be possible to change it?

Thanks!

Hello @AcousTech,

at present we see this as working as designed and undocumented in the Admin Guide.

Any change to make both the UDP/TCP port configurable would require a Feature Request.

Jan 03, 2013 Question: How can I request a change to the current Polycom SIP / UC Software?

Resolution: Please check => here <=
