Trio 8800 with Microsoft Teams : audio only

Hi,

Our Trio 8800 is setup with Skype for Business, and we're intrested in upgrading it to Microsoft Teams.  However I've discovered that Teams is audio only : https://knowledgebase-iframe.polycom.com/kb/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=39837&sliceId=1&...

The solutions that are offered in the previous url, don't work for me :

* RealConnect is an expensive platform compare to other solutions

Microsoft Teams solution requires reinstalling all cables back to the meeting table.  The visual+ makes is possible to get rid of most cabling.  Also the meeting room is occassionally used for events, which means that we need to be able to clear the table from the room.  Rewiring this every time is not want we want.

Is Poly working on a new firmware for the Trio 8800 that would enable video in Microsoft Teams ? I realize that Teams is quite different from Skype for Business which provides video, but if audio is working for Teams, that enabling video is the last gap to bridge.

Perhaps this question should be posted on the Development Community but for some reason I cannot post there.

Thanks for letting me know if an update to video is underway.

Best regards,

Joeri

Re: Trio 8800 with Microsoft Teams : audio only

Hello @Joeri ,

Welcome back to the Poly community.

Some or a couple of your old post(s) or reply(s) to them => here <= are still open/pending as you have not marked these as "Accept as a solution" or at least provide some form of feedback or answer.

If they are in this state nobody finding them via a community search will know if an answer or advice provided was useful and has maybe helped you.

Could you therefore kindly go over them and mark or answer as appropriate?

If they are marked as "Accept as a solution" other users can find these easier and it helps them to utilise the community more efficiently. Please do not simply mark them without any type of feedback.

Secondly, RealConnect for Teams when in Skype for Business mode, to my own personal knowledge, is free until June 2020.

A Poly reseller can provide more details.

To come back to your original issue, a Poly Trio with a Visual+ or VisualPro was never advertised to be Teams certified.

Our Partner Microsoft has specific qualifications for their SRS Room Systems and the Trio does not meet these.

We cannot discuss future software or hardware versions within the Community.

Poly, a US-based company, cannot share any future release dates or new features due to the requirement of non-disclosure agreement / NDA prior to this.

Via the medium of a community forum, we are unable to do this.

Best Regards

Steffen Baier

Re: Trio 8800 with Microsoft Teams : audio only

Hi Joeri,

I'm not sure why Steffan is playing so coy about future devices, since they were announced at Ignite and Poly have put out a press release about it.

https://newsroom.poly.com/press-release/consumer/poly-introduces-poly-studio-x-series-microsoft-team...

https://www.polycom.com/hd-video-conferencing/room-video-systems/poly-studio-x-series.html

The Studio X replaces the Visual+ and will be certified for Teams next year. While it can run stand alone (speaker and mic in the soundbar, no Trio) I think it can also pair with a Trio on the table for the audio and call control.

Until these are released, your existing Visual+ hardware entitles you to free RealConnect until June 2020. You can either set that up now and migrate to Teams straight away, or put the whole thing on ice for six months and see what the Studio X Teams support is like when it comes out.

Cheers,

Ryan

Hello @RyanTrainor ,

within this community, I am usually only talking about released products.

Your statement about the Trio is based on an assumption and therefore until such combination is officially released, I am not commenting on this.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Re: Trio 8800 with Microsoft Teams : audio only

Hi Steffen,

About this I suppose a lot of Poly's customer hope that a Teams video compatible firmware will be released one day. Until that, the we need to use the RealConnect service to use our Trios with Teams. However, as I know and like our Poly partner has confirmed (maybe you can contradict it), this service cannot be used when we receive an invitation from third parties using Teams and not using RealConnect.

Is there a solution for that case? That will be a more and more frequent situation since Microsoft is automaticaly migrating customers to Teams.

Best regards,

Cyrille
