Hi Polycom,

We have deployed VbSS out to the Trio8800 units as part of the recent firmware upgrade and initially all was good as P2P screen sharing to the Trio was much faster and looked good. The issue we have is when the Trio joins a conference and content is shaird vis VbSS the image quality on the Trio is poor with lots of pixilation and image corruption. We have therefore had to roll back to RDP.

1) Is there a way to set all SfB conferences to use RDP and just P2P use VbSS?

2) Any idea why the Trio is suffering this image issue when in a conference?

Thanks,

Mark

Hello @Mark-AV,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The VBSS comes from the Skype for Business Server within the INVITE so the answer is no. You can change the Registry on the Skype Client to only support RDP but you cannot change this on the fly.

The same on the Trio where you have to enable VBSS to be able to use it.

I suggest you get this into support so we can try and replicate this. We would need to see at least some logs and maybe requore an account from your end.

This cannot be done via the community.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you.

End Customers are unable to open a ticket directly with Polycom support.

If this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post either your phone's MAC address or your Polycom devices serial so I can look up who would be able to support you. This may not be who you purchased the Polycom device from.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

I found that upgrading all of out Trio 8800 to Software ver 5.5.3 fixed the pixalations problems, additionally using the Pano app definitely made a huge difference. the only draw back is the IP address you will have to ask staff to use instead of room names.

Also be aware that when you upgrade to the lastest software. if your phones are connected to office 365 directly then the phones will start an endless upgrade, downgrade loop. You will need to login to Lync powershell and diable Auto Update feature or run upload the config.cfg fix

Best of Luck

Hello @Joe85,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The user in question already uses 5.5.3 (I know he should have posted this) as this introduced VBSS.

He is also aware of the downgrade / upgrade issue as this was one of his first post's within the community.

I am unsure what your IP address comment is in regards of the room name so please feel free to elaborate.

Hi Steffen,

I mention in my post that if you use the New Polycom Pano App with the Polycom 8800 upgraded to ver 5.5.3 the quality is 5 if not 10 times better in comparison to the People+Content Ip App that is no longer available for mainstream download.

The issue with the Pano App, whilst it is support by the group series and the Polycom Visual+ box. if you do not have a Phisical Pano device in the network you wont be able to get the Free Polycom Cloud Service account and this means you will only be able to enter an IP address to connect to meeting rooms, in comparison the P+C ip app which supports rooms name without the need for any such service.

PLease correct me if i am wrong.

Hi, did you ever manage to resolve the image quality issue? We are on latest firmware from yesterday(5.8.0), have a ticket raised for 2 months but moving nowhere fast. Currently testing competitor system side-by-side on the same network segment and that one has none of these issues so not likely to be network related. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Hello @zepattuser,

welcome back to the Polycom Community.

It would help us if you could post the ticket reference so we can find out if this is being dealt with by Polycom support or the person you purchased the units from.
