Hi

I currently have a batch of VVX 201 phones which I need to configure for Skype for Business, I have the BToE application installed on my laptop and can see that both devices are "paired".  Skype asks for authentication when it recognises the phone at which point the phone screen changes to a login attempt.  After 10/15 minutes this failes.  Anyone else have issues with the phones and Skype for Business ?

Looking at the log file on the phone I receive the following:

Hello @Mark.Casemore,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

A couple of things.

It is always useful to include the currently used UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

In addition the MAC that you provided is not a SKYPE SKU aka please be aware of the following when utilizing UCS 4.1.0 or later:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in a Lync environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in a Lync environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against a Lync server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.

Information in regards of License Part Numbers can be found here

Please ensure you have the relevant licenses when using Polycom Phones with Skype for Business or simply purchase a Skype SKU aka -019

Your logs show:

0410105944|sip  |4|00|[cert_verify_callback,tcp]:Server certificate verification failed, Untrusted Certificate,error=20

and

0410105909|sip  |4|00|[cert_verify_callback,tcp]:Server certificate verification failed, Untrusted Certificate,error=20
0410105909|sip  |4|00|MakeTlsConnection: SSL_connect error 1
0410105909|sip  |4|00|MakeTlsConnection: connection failed error -1

The Skype Communitys FAQ contains:

Jan 17, 2017 Question:How can I troubleshoot simple Skype for Business, LYNC or Office365 issues?

Resolution: Have a look => here <=

Best Regards

Hi

Sorry about that, I thought I had included the details from the phone.  These are the details from the phone and I can see the UC Software version is 5.5.2.9374:

Home Phone Information

Phone Model VVX 201

Part Number 3111-40450-001 Rev:A

MAC Address 64:16:7F:87:36:77

IP Mode IPv4

IP Address x.x.x.x

UC Software Version 5.5.2.9374

Updater Version 5.7.2.21930

I've changed the debug level from one of the FAQs you linked and am going through the log file.  The one line that sticks out now is

0410132557|sip  |4|00|[cert_verify_callback,tcp]:Server certificate verification failed, Untrusted Certificate,error=20

Which may require me to get in contact with our ISP as they provide our Skype for Business platform and may need their assistance regards the certificate.

Thanks.

Hello @Mark.Casemore,

Please ensure you have purchased the relevant licenses to use these devices from Polycom moving forward.

Your VVX201 is a 2200-40450-025 which is not the correct SKU.

You need to separately purchase this from Polycom / a Reseller in order to use the phones.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
