New VVX250 and MS Teams SIP Gateway

Hi, just wondering if anyone has purchased VVX250 recently? I bought a few of them and because of the new hardware the only firmware version it supports is 6.4.3. And this firmware version doesn't play well with MS Teams SIP gateway. The older version VVX250 can be downgraded to 6.3.1 which works well with MS Teams SIP gateway. I hope Poly can work with Microsoft together to fix this issue so version 6.4.3 can work with Teams SIP gateway.

We are working with our partner Microsoft on the new release. Due to the holiday season, this is delayed.

If it's the "SSL/TLS handshake failed" error you are seeing, see this article for a workaround: Unable to sign into the Microsoft SIP Gateway using Poly VVX due SSL/TLS handshake failed

 

Note that despite what the article says, this workaround cannot be set using Poly Lens; you must apply it manually through the web interface of the device.

I did see the TLS handshake error which I was able to get around by changing the settings. But version 6.4.3 has major issues with Teams, the phone can login ok but it can't make or receive calls at all. This is a known issue and that's why Microsoft pulled this version off their website, reverted back to 6.3.1.

We have a number of VVX450 phones running 6.4.3.5059 that are working with the Teams SIP Gateway, but there may be something specific to your configuration causing the issue. If you contact Poly Support, perhaps they can provide a hotfix release.

Thanks, that's good to know. But it is true Microsoft knows there're issues with the newer version, and that's why they first pushed out the 6.4.3 and then reverted back to 6.3.1. I had this issue when all my phones got updated automatically by Micrsoft, I opened a case with both Poly and Microsoft and Poly support confirmed that the newer firmware is causing issue. I'm surprised to know it works for you, maybe the VVX250 and VVX450 work differently.

do you have any Microsoft reference for the dropped/unable to make call issue?

 

I have checked with my internal contacts dealing with our Partner Microsoft and they are not aware of an issue.

The case number I had with Poly was 34317815. The case number with Microsoft was 32633732

UC Software 6.4.4 is now active in Lens and I did a quick test using the Microsoft SIP gateway and this works and is not downgraded.
