Hello,

I have a client with an on-Premise SFB 2015 environment. With full enterprise voice working beautifully; windows, mac, iOS, android, internal/external, federation, PSTN conferencing, PSTN dialling, inbound and outbound voice routing, emergency services etc.. all working..

They have AudioCodes IP Phones (DHCP Provisioned); Polycom RealPresence conference rooms (provisioned manually), Aastra IP Phones (DHCP provisioned), and Polycom VVX IP Phones (DHCP provisioned)..
But I cannot get an older Polycom SoundStation IP 5000 working.. manually or via the same dhcp options..

Provisioning doesn’t work, the device can talk to http boot server and download configuration profiles.. 0000..cfg downloads (including sip.ld), but shortly after lyncShared.cfg is downloaded, this phone fails with ssl errors.. obviously it’s not enrolled in an SSL certificate like the others.

The base profile is definitely Lync mode. And the lyncShared.cfg file includes the root-ca.
I don’t see this root-ca installed after the phone is booted!

My VVX series Phones have both root-ca thumbprint and a device cert and key.. these sound stations do not.

Anyone got any pointers or advice? Maybe I just missed something more basic somewhere.

Thanks!
Simon

Hello James,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

It is always useful to include the currently used SIP or UC Software version as issues experienced or a question asked may already be addressed in a newer release.

This also allows yourself and others to check against current software release notes, Administrator Guides or FAQ post’s.

The above is also stated in the "Must Read First" and is the absolute minimum requirement every new post should include. .

In addition providing us with this basic information gives Polycom an idea what Software Versions are used in the field and avoids wasting time trying to troubleshoot issues which have already been addressed.

Therefore the Polycom VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Question: How can I find out my SIP or UC Software Version of my Phone?
Resolution: Please check here

The most important bit is that the SoundStation 5000 was never qualified for Skype for Business so you are using an unsupported call server.

@Steffen,

The last UC version 4.1.x that is supported by the SoundPoint IP 5000 ; although half a dozen have been attempted.
This is more a question over the provisioning steps etc..

Hello @Simon_J,

The SoundStation IP5000 and the SoundStation Duo where only ever qualified for LYNC 2010 and LYNC 2013 using UC Software 4.1.x the latest being 4.1.1 Rev AA.

No other 4.0.x software was ever supported.

They are not qualified / tested / compatible / supported with Skype for Business 2015 or later.

Fully aware of the Lync compatibility list, thanks.

Since SFB 2015 is merely a re-skin of Lync 2013.. no functionality has been introduced or taken away - therefore the registration should work.

According to the comments in this post:
http://blog.schertz.name/2011/12/lync-integration-with-polycom-sip-phones/
On ‘July 29, 2013‘, someone managed to get sip registrations working, on a slightly older version. However the tip was to match the bootRom.

Can you send me a link on how to do that please? I have seen similar issues with the base profile switching back to General, as opposed to Lync.

Hello @Simon_J,

there is a little bit more change than just cosmetic and I am unable to provide any more details on this as it is an unsupported platform.

There is no separate BootROM on an IP5000. This is only something to look out for on a SSIP6000/7000 as all the software should come in one download for the IP5000.

Thanks Steffen,

Maybe one of the other public community members can comment?

for anyone to suggest anything we would require logs and an example of your configuration used.
