Djohan,

If you want to use Access Proxy to allow external devices to register to your internal CMA you will need a VBP-ST box, not a VBP-E.

Gatekeeper neighboring does not require the use of prefixes. If neighboring has been set up correctly then if the primary gatekeeper cannot resolve an alias it will send a Location Request to the neighbor to see if it knows about the alias. If it doesn't, the call will be rejected.

If you can be more specific about how you want to use prefixes perhaps I can be more helpful.

Hi Michael

thx for your answer.

actually old existing configuration was used VBP 5300E as proxy and GK (using embeded GK). in this VBP we set prefix to route call to other GK. we used prefix 007 for call to outsite. this scenario already worked well.

now we want to expand our GK capacity, then we deplay CMA4000.

we configure our existing VBP as proxy only and move GK function to CMA4000.
now we face problem that CMA4000 can not recoagnize prefix 007 for calling outsite.

pls advise

thx

dj

The first thing you have to do is set up the neighboring between the CMA and the external gatekeeper. Once that is done all you need to do on the CMA is go to Admin -> Dial Plans and Sites -> Dial Rules and set up a rule where the action for prefix 007 is set to forward to a Trusted Neighbor.
