In my current UC environment, I have 3 RMX's deployed in 3 different city that uses one CMA as GK. The codecs are a mixture of DMZ IP units that register to the CMA directly .

we also VPB's deployed for codecs that are on private IP . The codecs registered to the VBP and VBP use the CMA as GK.  The codecs are added as entries to the Guest book  on the CMA and this allow us to view the units on the RMX manager .

We plan to deploy DMA's into our environment to better managed the RMX and provide redundancy. Reading the manual, I understand that we can use the DMA as GK role and have the DMZ IP Codecs register directly to the DMA but DMA does not have any option for Guest book entries ? Does this mean, we need to keep the CMA and leave the private IP codecs in the guest book list and have the CMA registered to the DMA as neighbor GK ?

Appreciate your help

David

Hello

You should use the DMA and the CMA together.

In your case, DMA's is used for: H323 gatekeeper, SIP registrar (if you will use SIP), MCU auto cascading, VMR, VEQ
and CMA: Address book, endpoints monitoring, provisioning, software updates.

Thanks for the suggestion. So you suggest to have the DMZ endpoints still register to CMA instead of the DMA.

while deployoing DMA in your exsisting setup just create site on the CMA which contain IP information of your DMZ zone endpoints and in the site provisining you specify DMA as gatekeeper and create provining profile on CMA for DMA and push that profille in DMZ zone endpoints.

The advantage for this is you can moniter your device on CMA for activity perform on the VC devices and add DMA in CMA as naboiring GK and vise versa at DMA end
