Polycom has a New CEO!

This has been a very exciting week for us at Polycom.  Our new President and CEO, Peter A. Leav, is now officially onboard! 

Peter succeeded our interim CEO Kevin Parker and has resumed the role effective Monday, December 2, 2013.  Below is a snippet from Peter's profile:

Mr. Leav brings to Polycom a strong background in operations, general management and sales, spanning a successful 20+ year career in communications, technology and services. He has a proven track record of driving revenue and shareholder value while leading global organizations at such companies as NCR and Motorola and regional organizations at Cisco Systems and Tektronix.

Mr. Leav comes to Polycom from NCR Corporation, where he held senior and executive leadership positions since 2009. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President and President of Industry and Field Operations, responsible for leading a team of approximately 8,000 employees across 120 countries. Mr. Leav led NCR’s global go-to-market efforts, including the NCR Global Sales organization’s direct and indirect sales channels, Professional Services, and Industry Lines of Business, focusing on customers in the Financial Services, Retail, Hospitality, Travel and Technology and Telecom industries. Mr. Leav also led NCR’s Interactive Printer Solutions division, managing its global footprint of manufacturing and distribution capabilities. In addition, Mr. Leav was a member of NCR’s Executive Committee, helping to develop and execute on the company’s global strategy.  

For Polycom employees, we got a chance to meet our new leader first hand at our global company meeting earlier this week.  

The meeting started with a short speech from Kevin Parker, then Kevin introduced Peter Leav to everyone. Peter took the stage and spoke to the team, as well as answered many questions from the employees.

My first impression of Peter was that, he is very well versed about the business and that he is passionate about Polycom.  What really impressed most is that he seems to be very caring about the employees.  He said that the most valuable assets in the company are the employees.  Many employees liked the fact that he used the word "we" a lot and that really created a sense of team spirit.  He also told us that ethics and time are extremely important to him; and that he is a listener and a learner.  I think we are off to a great start!  We are really looking forward to the new leadership and doing great things for the company.  So stay tuned....
