pic5.jpgIt's that time of the year!  Many people are getting into the party mode, welcoming the holidays and new year. What to do if your team or family members are remote?

One of our APAC colleagues, Eric Wong, recently posted a very fun article on the THE View Blog about "Top 5 tips for organizing a virtual party".  It just reminded me.... Video conferencing is not only for work!  We can leverage the technology creatively for other areas, even for parties!

Our Polycom Industry Solutions team and the Cleveland Institute of Music jointly held a global virtual party yesterday. Not only did they have participants from many states across the U.S., they even had folks joining from Asia Pacific and Europe.  In the beginning of the party, the talented folks from the Cleveland Institute of Music performed two special songs dedicated to Polycom.  Then the team members opened gifts and showed them off via video and content sharing. The entire party was recorded, so they were able to share the recording with the participants after the event.  Check out the fun pictures here!

Eric's article and the Industry Solutions team's virtual party are indeed perfect examples of defying distance! While you are planning events around your workplace or at home, think about using video conferencing and include your colleagues and family members around the world!  For parties, the more people, the merrier, right!?

Happy Holidays, everyone!
